New Agency Awarded Global Tourism Study

Just a few months after its co-founder Paul Flatters left Opinion Leader, new London-based forecasting firm Trajectory Partnership has been awarded a contract by UNWTO to forecast international tourism growth through to 2030.

Trajectory Partners was established by Managing Partners Flatters, Future Foundations co-founder Michael Willmott and former Henley Centre MD Chris Farmelo to apply the full range of qual and quant methods to social analysis and forecasting.

The UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation) research programme UNWTO Future Vision: Tourism Towards 2030 will forecast international tourism growth and identify key actual and future trends and their impact on tourism development.

It will combine industry data with the views of UNWTO members, tourism practitioners, trends experts and academics around the world, while updating the previous Tourism 2020 Vision, which is regarded by many as the definitive global reference on the future of tourism.

Geoffrey Lipman, Assistant Secretary General UNWTO said that the study will provide a body of work that will be used and relied upon by thousands of private and public sector operators within the tourism sector over the next decade.

Flatters says working with the UNWTO to create comprehensive global forecasts is a welcome challenge. 'Tourism as a sector faces a very complex mix of social, economic and geo-political trends over both the short and long-term. We know how important programmes such as this are in the successful development of new business models and services.'
