Nielsen Sells Ad Monitoring Service

Nielsen has sold its Hong Kong Advertising Monitoring (AIS) service to admanGo, a firm which provides a competitive advertising and ad monitoring service through an online platform. Terms were not disclosed.

Explaining the reason for the sale, Communications Director Agnes Hui said: 'We don't have enough customer support for the AIS service, though our business portfolio in other areas in media and consumer research service are still healthy. We have to prioritise our investment and resources.'

admanGo was founded in 1999, and today its service is used by more than 80% of major advertising agencies, media and advertisers in Hong Kong.

Hui said that the decision does not affect her firm's AIS business in other parts of the world, and that in Hong Kong, other Nielsen services will remain intact.

The transaction will be completed by the end of this month, and admanGo will take over client contracts from 1 January 2009.

Last year, Nielsen launched a service to track Internet advertising spend in Singapore, through its AIS service.
