NPD Unveils Ecommerce Tracking Service

US consumer and retail specialist The NPD Group has begun offering weekly ecommerce point-of-sale (POS) data for consumer technology.

The new Ecommerce Weekly Tracking Service collects data from 15 ecommerce retailers and is available for more than 100 consumer technology categories. This enables retailers and manufacturers to measure industry, category, brand, and model-level sales and trends.

Group President Dennis Brown says that when used in conjunction with the firm's existing Weekly Tracking Service, the new tracker provides a total view of the retail landscape.

'Our new service provides a timely view of both segments of the market and enables our clients to compare and analyze sales trends across ecommerce and brick and mortar week-by-week as changes are occurring,' added Brown.

Last month, the company rolled out the Consumer Reports on Eating Share Trends service (CREST) in the People's Republic of China.
