TNS Wins Slovakian TV Contract

In Slovakia, PMT Ltd - which was founded in 2002 to implement electronic measurement of the country's TV viewing - has awarded TNS SK a five year contract to measure both analogue and digital viewing.

TNS SK has held the country's TV measurement contract since 2004, and this new agreement commences in February 2010.

A panel of 1,200 housholds will take part in the project, which will be carried out using the TARIS 5000 PeopleMeter. TNS SK will monitor all TV stations in the Slovak Republic and will conduct an initial survey to detect factors which influence TV audiences the most.

The firm will use audio matching technology to enable measurement of analogue and digital signals, as well as radio and Internet broadcast audiences.

Data from the PeopleMeters will be transferred to a central server at night and numbers on audience for the previous day will be available the following morning.

TNS SK MD, Ivan Šimek, comments: 'The PMT decision is proof that our agency is able to provide high-quality TV audience measurement, and that our technology provides TV stations with new possibilities for assessment of TV programme creation and advertising sales. The fact that we will again provide these services demonstrates the trust PMT has in our agency.'

PMT's members include Slovenská televízia, TV Markíza, TV JOJ, TA3 and the Association of Media Agencies (AMA).
