First Quarter Results from Information Resources, Inc.
9/5/00

US revenues are recovering, cost reductions are in place and international growth is on track at IRI.

Information Resources, Inc recorded a net loss of (US$3.6) million, or (US$.12) per diluted share, including restructuring charges, for the first quarter 2000 compared to a net loss of (US$0.3) million, or (US$.01) per diluted share, in the first quarter of 1999.

The restructuring charges included in the first quarter totalled US$3.6 million resulting in an after tax charge of US$2.1 million or US$.07 per diluted share. These charges are part of the companyıs previously announced Project Delta cost reduction initiative and consist primarily of costs associated with the transition of its software development activities from Waltham, MA to Chicago and the relocation of the German data production operations to the companyıs Wood Dale, US data processing centre..

According to company Chairman, President and CEO Joe Durrett, "We're about where we expected to be at this point. We continue to make excellent progress on a number of fronts including continued growth of our international business and cost reductions from our Project Delta initiative, which are evident in this quarter's results. We also are restoring US revenue, although the present results reflect the lag effect of client losses realised during the first three quarters of 1999, as well as the restructuring charges. We think our continued progress with the Delta US productivity program, strengthening of the US client base, and international gains puts us into a good position for the balance of the year and creates a stronger platform for 2001 and beyond."

For the quarter ended March 31, 2000, consolidated revenues reached US$129.1 million, a decrease of 2% versus the first quarter of 1999. US revenues reached US$98.4 million or 4% below last year, while international revenues increased 5% to US$30.8 million, an increase of 15% in local currency.
