MORI Wins 2001 English House Condition Survey from DETR
14/08/00

MORI has signed a contract to undertake the 2001 English House Condition Survey. The survey which takes place next year involves interviews at a large random sample of addresses across the UK and an inter-linked physical survey undertaken by a trained surveyor at the same properties. Detailed information on 20,000 homes will be collected from across the two surveys.

The survey is used by the government to allocate resources to different regions and RSLs and is part of a 5 yearly cycle of tracking surveys to monitor changes in the conditions of people's homes in England.

According to Ben Page, the Project Director at MORI, "We are delighted to have been awarded this prestigious contract for a second time; it confirms our specialism in this area". Andy Cubie and Beccy Timms, who both worked on the previous EHCS, will manage the study. Andy Cubie said, "We are already working closely with the Department on getting ready to undertake this major government survey on CAPI for the first time." MORI also undertook the 1991 and 1996 Scottish House Condition Surveys.

According to Terry McIntyre, the Project Manager at DETR, "We are extremely happy to have awarded the contract to MORI, and I am sure that the survey will benefit from MORI's expertise and experience from 1996."
