New Online Tracking Service for Video Games
4/10/2000

The NPD Group has launched an e-commerce tracking service for the video games industry. This includes both point-of-sale tracking of the online video games industry and a syndicated report evaluating the online channel versus offline sales.

The new service aims to provide actual e-commerce video game share information from participating e-tailers and retailers on a monthly basis, showing what is selling online versus what is selling offline. The service will reveal what types of video games are dominating the Web, which companies are offering their products online, and which video game publishers are leading the rankings.

Data in the monthly NPD TRSTS Video Games e-Trends Report will include share in dollars and units as well as average retail prices. The report will also provide video game highlights by category, such as hardware, software, and accessories and by platform, including Sega Dreamcast, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo 64 and more.
