NFO Worldwide, the largest custom marketing research firm in North America, and its affiliate InsightExpress have announced a strategic alliance with NetZero's CyberTarget division. The agreement will significantly enhance the ability of NFO and InsightExpress to provide their clients with data collection and analysis about consumer opinions and habits online.

The agreement will give clients of NFO and InsightExpress access to household and individual samples drawn from NetZero's base of more than 5.7 million members, with valuable targeting capabilities based upon demographics and/or Internet usage. For example, using the targeting capabilities of NetZero, NFO and InsightExpress clients will be able to survey individuals who frequently shop their competitors' web sites. This innovative co-operation agreement will allow the creation of standard and custom samples for research use. NetZero members will not be required to participate in the surveys or market research, and no personal information will be disclosed to third parties at any time. Separately, but also as part of this agreement, NFO will offer NetZero's free Internet access service, including its patent-pending zCast™ tracking software, to members of its existing household panels. With appropriate household permission, this will enable NFO to evaluate online behavioural data combined with offline research data gathered from its panellists. The agreement also calls for CyberTarget and NFO to develop co-branded research applications based upon NetZero members' anonymous clickstream data, focusing on various industry vertical markets.
