V-track: The First WebSite Monitoring System
18/1/01

In spite of the recent negativity towards dot.coms, websites have nevertheless become a key market channel in many sectors eg banking, travel, etc. As such, systems need to be set in place to monitor this channel and to ensure that it continues to deliver to acceptable standards and to highlight areas for improvement. V-track, launched from Virtual Surveys, aims to do just this.

Although traditional sources of website data such as traffic analysis and panel data are key inputs to this process, they do not provide key customer satisfaction data. One way to obtain this vital information is to conduct a V-track visitor survey.

Continuous tracking using V-track has a number of benefits over ad-hoc systems. In particular it allows, for the first time, a system to determine how effective promotions in different media are in driving traffic to a website. V-track also provides a simple system to assess the effectiveness of relaunches on user satisfaction of websites.

According to Pete Comley, Virtual Surveys’ MD, "The market for website assessment has started to mature. Many companies are realising that they need user satisfaction monitoring on their website, just like their other channels. Not only does V-track offer a simple solution to this but it is also backed up interpretation against a unique set of norms derived from testing 100+ UK websites."
