New Technologies and the Industry
24/4/01

Estoril in Portugal is set to host this May’s SumIT01 market research conference. Organised by SPSS MR, this year’s three-day event promises to explore the effect of new technologies on the industry.

The organisers have lined up an interesting cast of speakers and workshops. Presentations are scheduled by such well-known names as Len Bayer, executive vice president at Harris Interactive, and Pip Harding, associate director at BMRB International. Workshops and breakout sessions are scheduled on topical issues such as survey authoring, data mining for MR, speeding up the coding process, analytics for MR, results deployment and web interviewing.

Aside of the main conference itself, delegates will witness the launch of SPSS MR’s new Dimensions system. This is billed as an open and scalable technology platform designed to act as the core of the company's future IT solutions. It was first presented at SumIT99 as Vision 2000 before being repackaged in the current Dimensions format. The system now offers a comprehensive set of tools for survey design, data collection, data preparation, data management, reporting and analysis.

Commenting on the forthcoming event, Ian Durrell, president of SPSS MR said, "The goal of each SumIT meeting is to create a forum where market researchers can share information, exchange ideas and educate each other about the future of our industry. This year, we have brought together a group of distinguished experts from both the practitioner and vendor worlds to share their thoughts on the impact of new technologies on the future of market research. Additionally, SumIT01 offers market researchers a first-hand opportunity to see and try innovative products that will shape the way they do business in the years to come."

The conference will run from May 20th to 23rd. For more information visit the SumIT01.com website.
