New Turkish Research Company

ProCon GfK is to acquire IBS Marketing Research Services under an agreement reached by the companies last week. As a result, is believed a new structure called the IBS Unit will be created within ProCon GfK.

At present, ProCon GfK employs the only in-house data collection operations within Turkey with some 30 field personnel in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Adana, and Samsun. The operation carries out mostly face-to-face interviews for national surveys. It has conducted a limited amount of CATI (computer aided telephone interviewing) and CAPI (computer aided personal interviewing) as well. The company’s data processing has been achieved through Quantum/Quanvert and SPSS software packages.

The new IBS Unit of ProCon GfK will operate along similar lines, and be headed by Ogun Dogan Akyol, client services director of ProCon GfK, with David Tonge of IBS responsible for its business and product development. Deniz Ozerdil and Karolin Abda of IBS will be responsible for managing any adhoc work. IBS personnel will also be responsible for pharmaceutical marketing research and data production.

Ali Levent Orhun and Elcin Uner, co-founders and co-managing directors of ProCon GfK, commented "The acquisition of IBS during this period of economic uncertainty demonstrates ProCon GfK’s commitment to the sector and Turkey. We believe that this agreement will provide a major stimulus to our continuing efforts to tighten our ad hoc network with the objective to become ad hoc market leader in the challenging and competitive world of marketing research in Turkey."
