Launch of New Business Information Study
17/5/01

Outsell Inc, the US information industry researcher, has just announced the launch of its new study, European I-AIM(TM) (Information About Information Markets). This sets out to examine the habits, preferences and budgets of business-to-business information users in the UK, Germany and France.

The European I-AIM follows on the heels of the company’s other main information industry study, Super I-AIM study. This is a fairly comprehensive look at over 6,000 US-based corporate users across ten different job functions and 20 different industries.

It is believed that the European version has already been well received by potential users. Consequently, Outsell claims that it has succeeded in attracting several international companies to sponsor the report.

Commenting on its involvement with the launch study, Clare Hart, president and CEO of Factiva, said "The information industry changes so frequently that it is hard to find relevant market data on users' information investments, decision making, content preferences, and behaviours-especially in the European market. We are thrilled to be one of the first sponsors of the European I-AIM study, which will help us to understand end users' information requirements in Europe, and build upon the knowledge we gained about our customer base through the U.S. I-AIM study."

Gregory Chagaris, Outsell founder and CEO, is in charge of promoting the company in the European market. "This research initiative is a wide-ranging survey across a critical mass of functions and industries. European I-AIM will allow vendors to shorten their "time to money" in the marketplace by making intelligent choices about their target markets and product offerings that truly meet the needs of those markets. Most of the end users we study spend approximately ten hours a week on the job finding, gathering and analysing information. And many functional groups spend more than half their time engaged in those tasks. Vendors who can improve information end users' productivity will be the winners in this high-stakes market."
