The NOP Research Group has launched "eCommerce 2001- the Complete Market Perspective", a comprehensive assessment of the e-commerce market.

Produced by NOP Business, the Group’s specialist business division, the report is available in two companion volumes: The Consumer Perspective and The Business Perspective. Both provide detailed analysis of the present, with forecasts to 2005.

Drawn from over five years of NOP’s eTrack and Internet User Profile Surveys, the report couples primary research data with detailed analysis by market experts to provide a comprehensive assessment of the strategic issues facing the market today and into the future

The analysis aims to provide a thorough understanding of the factors driving e-commerce in both the business-to-business and business-to-consumer sectors, in the latter case highlighting cross-country comparisons between Britain, France and Germany and evaluating the relative potential of the consumer e-commerce market in the EU’s three largest economies.

E-commerce is fast becoming a silver bullet application, both for those consumers currently online and those planning to in the future. The process is quick, easy to use and delivers exceptionally high levels of satisfaction - only 2% of online shoppers are dissatisfied with the process, and the typical online shopper expects their spend on personal purchases to have increased by between 2-3 times in the next 12 months.
In the business arena, over half of all British business establishments have ordered goods and/or services over the Internet, with a third of all establishments actually making payments for goods online.

According to Carl Geraghty, Internet Research Manager at NOP, "With continued rapid growth in e-commerce, few companies can afford to ignore the power of the Internet as an essential distribution channel. Through a combination of extensive research data and informed comment, eCommerce 2001 delivers valuable insight into this rapidly evolving sector."
