In the UK, press regulator IMPRESS has given seats on its Board to Market Research Society MD Debrah Harding, and Cordella Bart-Stewart, Director of the Black Solicitors Network.
IMPRESS regulates more than 150+ publications in the UK, offering complaints adjudication, free arbitration, a comprehensive insurance scheme and a standards code, as well as an open code review process in which all members of the public can take part.
Harding (pictured) joined the MRS in 1999 to establish a new Standards and Policy department, after five years working in auditing and compliance for the Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC), and earlier working as a trainee Chartered Accountant. At the MRS, she moved from the role of Chief Operating Officer to MD five years ago.
Bart-Stewart has more than 30 years’ experience as a solicitor and established her own general legal practice in North London in 1990. She has a strong interest in equality and human rights issues and has specialised in family and immigration law for over 25 years. In addition, she has been a fee paid Judge of the First Tier Tribunal since 2000.
Walter Merricks, Chair of IMPRESS, comments: ‘I am proud to welcome two such outstanding new members to the IMPRESS board. Cordella and Debrah have exceptional skills and experience to contribute to IMPRESS. I look forward to working with them on the next stage of our development'.
