Kantar Rebrands TNS Worldpanel

In its second rebrand of the week, Kantar has re-named the TNS Worldpanel network as Kantar Worldpanel. Earlier in the week the group rebranded its media assets.

Tim KiddThe firms says this move is part of a strategy to realign the TNS portfolio, following its 2008 acquisition by WPP.

Since this time, the media units of TNS, KMR Group and BMRB Media have been re-labelled as Kantar Media; TNS Custom has merged with Research International; and TNS Custom's UK Social sector has been combined with BMRB's social research team to form TNS-BMRB.

TNS Worldpanel has provided insights into consumer purchasing and usage habits on a local and global scale for more than 40 years. The panel network, which covers sectors such as FMCG, entertainment, communications, petrol, fashion, beauty, baby and food-on-the-go, has a presence in 50 countries.

Under the new Kantar Worldpanel brand, the research panels, methodology, service and delivery teams will remain consistent with the previous TNS offer. There will be no change to the monthly Supermarket Share data, to ensure like-for-like comparison of data which will enable the delivery of trended year-on-year figures.

Panel sizes and methodologies will be accessible for use by all of Kantar's research businesses including TNS, and the rebrand will be consistent across Worldpanel's operations in Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America.

Kantar Worldpanel's UK MD Tim Kidd explains: 'Our new name and branding marks quite a substantial change to our business, to how we see ourselves and to how we want to be perceived in the market. It is a great opportunity not just to re-enforce our strengths in providing actionable insights but also to demonstrate to our clients how they can benefit from high definition inspiration.' The latter is the service's new strapline, launched along with a new logo.
