Former Nielsen Exec to Lead Mobile Analytics Firm

US mobile analytics provider Motally has appointed former Nielsen product management specialist John Forese as CEO.

John ForeseSan Francisco-headquartered Motally was founded in 2008, and employs a team of mobile industry veterans including M:Metrics co-founder Seamus McAteer. The company's patent-pending technology provides tracking and reporting usage statistics on mobile web sites.

Last summer, Motally received Series A financing, which it has since been using to scale its platform.

Forese joins with more than 15 years' experience in both the mobile and analytics industries. Most recently, he was SVP of Product Management at Nielsen Mobile, before which he held the same title at Telephia, prior to its acquisition by Nielsen in 2007.

While at Telephia, Forese led overall product strategy and had P&L responsibility across the company's product lines, while helping grow the firm into a leading provider of syndicated research and performance metrics for the mobile industry.

Earlier in his career, he held various management positions at telecoms and technology based start-ups, including Pacific Bell Mobile Systems, and spent four years as a management consultant working with clients in the consumer packaged goods and mobile industries.

Additionally, the firm has elected Doug Garland, a former VP of Product Development at Google, to its Board. Garland joins with more than 20 years' experience leading the development and growth of broadband and mobile services. Prior to working at Google, he served as SVP at Yahoo!, where he led the launch of the broadband access business and the company's mobile efforts.

The firm says that with the addition of Forese and Garland, it aims to continue to scale its analytics services for mobile web sites, apps, mobile games on the iPhone, iPad, Android and Blackberry platforms.
