TNS Hires Head of Retail & Shopper Sector

TNS has appointed Ivan Browne as Head of its Retail & Shopper Sector, based in London. He leaves GfK NOP, where he served as Business Development Director for the consumer products and retail division.

Ivan BrowneLast October, TNS acquired retail and manufacturer research specialist instorefactor, and merged it into its Retail and Shopper business. Previous acquisitions in the sector are now integrated as TNS Sorensen in the US, TNS Magasin in the UK, and TNS Zdology in China.

Prior to GfK NOP, Browne worked at MarketTools, also as Business Development Director. Before this he was MD at retail research agency Retail Testing Limited (RTL), an agency founded by former execs of TNS Radar, where Brown had previously served as an Associate Director. He earlier spent eight years at Waitrose.

In his new position, Browne will report to Phil Sutcliffe, Head of TNS' Consumer Division, and lead a team tasked with helping clients tackle industry issues such as disrupting automated shopping behaviour, engaging shoppers at fixture, and bringing synergies from above-the-line campaigns in to the in-store environment.

Sutcliffe comments: 'TNS has the most comprehensive retail and shopper tools in the industry, and it is vital we continue to offer the expertise and consultancy needed to ensure these tools drive growth for our clients. We think that Ivan's experience and knowledge of the sector mean TNS UK is in an even more powerful position to do this.'
