Database101 to Hire 60 for New Business

Database101 - the firm set up by sacked Infogroup founder Vinod Gupta in 2010 - has opened ResearchUSA, a business dedicated to managing its parent's proprietary business database. As part of the launch, the firm plans to hire 60 researchers for its new call center.

John FerrisThe ResearchUSA team, consisting of individuals who have worked with Database101 over the last two years to create the database, now plans to maintain and enhance the 14 million business listings as it hires new staff in the coming months.

As well as including the business name, address and phone number; the database will also include a range of information such as the number of employees, sales volume, years in business, and other details gathered from firms' web sites. It will also include e-mail addresses for millions of executives and small business owners.

Gupta comments: 'By compiling our own business database, we will be fulfilling the needs of a wide variety of customers. Now, due to the emergence of the Internet and web technology, customers demand more depth, more selectivity, and more accuracy on a real-time basis, and we plan to meet that need and create an even better enterprise.'

In November, Gupta filed a countersuit against his former firm, after Infogroup sued him for 'illegal practices' including theft of its database. Gupta denies all charges.
