Infogroup and Database101 Drop Legal Claims

Database giant and former ORC parent Infogroup has dropped its legal case against founder and former CEO Vin Gupta, who in return has dropped his countersuit. Neither party has admitted to doing anything 'improper'.

Wasting the court's time? Gupta and Infogroup drop chargesGupta left Infogroup in 2008 after being dismissed as Chairman following an investigation which found him guilty of 'excessive spending'.

Last September, Infogroup claimed that Gupta's new company, Database101 had obtained Infogroup's database from former employees. In a lawsuit filed in Douglas County District Court, Infogroup said it caught its competitor out by including a 'made-up' company called Test Order, and that Database101 had then sent this company marketing material just days after its inclusion in the database.

Then in November, Gupta countersued Infogroup, alleging sabotage, interference and promotion of 'false rumors' by a company it described as 'not competitive in the marketplace'.

In a statement issued yesterday by the new firm Databasellc (which trades as Dabase101.com and AtoZdatabases), the firm announced that the two companies had 'resolved their disputes' but said the terms and conditions of the agreement and the settlement 'are confidential'.
