BrainJuicer Reports 14% Increase in H1 Profits

Online specialist BrainJuicer has reported a 14% increase in revenue to £10.37m for the first half of the year, and operating profit also up 14% from £628k to £716k.

John KearonUK sales for the six months ended 30 June rose by just 3% but the country still represents the largest share of revenue - 37% - and of operating profit (41%). US revenue rose by 16%, and while not yet as profitable as the UK, the US accounted for 33% of H1 revenue and 34% of operating profit.

The firm said its Swiss operation had another period of 'strong growth', with revenue up 76%, whereas its newer offices in China and Brazil managed combined H1 revenue of £1.14m (from £210k in H1 2011) and operating profits of £512k, compared with a £166k loss in H1 2011.

In contrast, Germany reported a 24% drop in revenue, while business in the Netherlands 'declined significantly' following the loss of its largest client. This has resulted in a restructure of the Dutch team which is now being managed by the head of BrainJuicer's German operation.

Overall, the firm says it is confident that it will make further progress in the second half of the year, and is on track to meet market expectations for the year as a whole.

Founder John Kearon (pictured) comments: 'We are delighted to have continued our significant international growth in revenue and profit, all organic, despite these challenging economic times. Our commitment to turning human understanding into business advantage is delivering BrainJuicer an innovative reputation and significantly more business from many of the world's biggest companies.'
