Pinterest Builds Own Analytics Tool

Image-based social media site Pinterest has launched a new web analytics tool to provide site owners with insights into how people are interacting with 'pins' that originate from their web sites.

Cat LeeAvailable for free for those companies with a verified web site, the tool can be used to obtain information about how many people have 'pinned' from their site, how many have seen those pins, and how many people visited their site from Pinterest. It also provides details about their 'most repinned', most clicked and most recent pins.

According to CEO Ben Silbermann, Pinterest is currently looking at ways to monetize its service, having last month raised $200m in a funding round which values the company at $2.5 billion.

Several firms are already analyzing activities taking place on Pinterest - including Curalate, WhichSocial.com and Pinpuff.

Cat Lee (pictured), Pinterest's Product Manager, comments: 'We're glad these businesses are helping web sites and content creators on Pinterest, and hope that they continue to provide services that we don't have plans to add at this time. They can help us scale out our efforts for pinners to have a better experience.'
