Attensity Gets Patent for Biz360 Sentiment Analysis

In the US, natural language processing specialist Attensity has received a patent for an unstructured sentiment analysis solution developed by its subsidiary Biz360.

Biz360 method wins patentAttensity uses semantic technologies and context based discovery to analyze more than 150 million data sources, including Twitter's full 'firehose' raw data stream. In 2010, the firm acquired market intelligence firm Biz360, which uses advanced data analytics to aggregate and analyze news and social media data, and uncover metrics to help clients understand and engage their target audiences.

Biz360's newly patented technology has been refined to provide more defined data sets during sentiment analysis. By splitting the unstructured text into one or more segments, lexical categories can be created, and a sentiment-rating engine added to the information can now evaluate the opinions of products, services and entities, the firm says, giving greater depth of the 'who what and why' of any opinion being analysed.

Jonathan Schwartz, General Counsel at Attensity, comments: 'The issuance of this patent further validates the years of research and affirms our innovative leadership. We expect additional patent issuances, which will further strengthen our broad IP portfolio.'
