SSI Buys Panels Down Under

SSI has agreed to buy online panel MyOpinions in Australia, and its sister panel SmileCity in New Zealand, from their parent company PermissionCorp. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Chris FanningThe MyOpinions panel, which has been built over the past fourteen years, provides online research for a large number of MR agencies and corporate clients in Australia and overseas; while SmileCity was established in 2003 as an online rewards programme exclusively for New Zealanders.

The panels will be combined with SSI's existing assets to offer broader reach for conducting B2C and B2B research in Australia and New Zealand. More generally, SSI says the deal will strengthen its position in the Asia Pacific region following the recent acquisition of assets from MRops, including an operations hub in Hyderabad, India.

SSI President and CEO Chris Fanning (pictured) comments: 'Clients will greatly benefit from the size, quality and productivity of our leading panels, and SSI's unique ability to manage large ANZ B2C and/or B2B trackers. We've been focused on further strengthening our leadership position in Asia Pacific and the acquisition of these two well-managed companies is an excellent fit with our strategy'.
