New Chapter for Nielsen Book's Skinner

Nielsen Book has announced that Sales Director Simon Skinner is to leave the business this week following structural changes in its Discovery & Commerce Solutions business.

Skinner began his career with The Bookseller magazine, then part of J Whitaker & Sons Ltd, and rose to International Sales Director by the time it was acquired by Nielsen Business Media in 1999 - it later became part of Nielsen Book.

Stephen Long, Global Director at Nielsen Book said: 'Simon's accomplishments have been instrumental to Nielsen Book's success over the years and his commitment to his clients and colleagues has been unmatched. We will all miss him'.

Skinner himself said: 'I've thoroughly enjoyed my time at Nielsen Book and prior to that, with Whitaker. I leave the business in a very different place to the one I joined and I look forward to seeing the business continue to grow and wish everyone in the team a successful future'.

Nielsen employs 100 staff in its Nielsen Book subsidiary in the UK. It also acquired the PubTrack family of business Intelligence and commerce solutions products in 2013, and in April last year it announced a partnership with Chinese retail tracking service Openbook, giving clients in the English language book markets in the US and UK a better understanding of the market in China, and vice versa.
