Former Guardian Head of Research Joins BARB

UK television measurement body BARB has hired former Guardian News and Media Head of Research Rhiannon Griffiths as Head of Strategic Developments.

Rhiannon GriffithsBARB (the Broadcasters' Audience Research Board) provides viewing figures for UK television audiences, and is funded by the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5, the IPA (Institute of Practitioners in Advertising), ITV and Sky. Griffiths (pictured) joins following 25 years as a primary research specialist at Guardian News and Media, where she developed and managed a variety of teams, while providing insight and support to strategic planning and sales. Additionally, she serves as co-Chair of the Association of Online Publishers' (AOP) Research Committee.

Her BARB role focuses on projects geared towards the development and delivery of new services. These include evaluating how the organisation works with return path data, coordinating contract tenders and overseeing implementation of the next phase of the hybrid / cross-platform measurement initiative, Project Dovetail.

CEO Justin Sampson comments: 'Dealing with fragmentation is not a new issue for BARB and our strategy for future-proofing our services is both necessary and ambitious.
