New Advisory Role for Former US Chief Data Scientist

In the US, former White House Chief Data Scientist DJ Patil has joined enterprise platform DataScience.com as an advisor to its product, engineering, and R&D teams.

DJ PatilThe company offers a platform to explore varied data sources and build models and algorithms, to help businesses unlock the value in their data. Its 'Lifetime Value Playbook' helps users learn how to predict the value of their current or potential customers; while its Churn Playbook looks at which customers will defect from a product or service and identifies ways to retain them.

Patil (pictured) was the first US Chief Data Scientist at The White House, responsible for helping maximise the nation's return on its investment in federal data, create nationwide data policies, work with agencies to establish best practices for data management, and recruit data scientists. Earlier, he was Head of Data Products and Chief Scientist at LinkedIn; and he held senior roles at Skype, PayPal and eBay, and earlier at the Department of Defense.

In his new advisory role, Patil will work with DataScience.com's teams as they build new features to enable enterprise companies to scale their data science objectives. CEO Ian Swanson comments: 'We're excited to add one of the most influential people in the data science field to our advisory board. Our mission is to help companies get real, measurable ROI from data science work by giving data science, IT, and business teams the tools they need to collectively make an impact. Who better to help us do that than the man whose name is synonymous with data science teamwork?'
