Former IAB CEO Guy Phillipson Named JICWEBS Chairman

The UK's cross-industry measurement standards body JICWEBS has appointed former IAB CEO Guy Phillipson as its new Chairman. He replaces Richard Foan who set up the organisation in 1999 with trade bodies ISBA, the IPA, the IAB and the AOP.

Guy PhillipsonJICWEBS (Joint Industry Committee for Web Standards) was formed to define best practice and standards for online ad trading. In 2017, the committee changed from a part-time entity into a limited company operating full-time, as it stepped up efforts to tackle online ad fraud and promote brand safety. Foan left at the end of 2018, and remains involved in the media industry through advisory and non-executive director (NED) roles.

In addition, he previously served as UK Chairman of online buzz measurement specialist iCrossing, is an NED at online media and data analysis firm Theorem; and as a former JICWEBS Board member he helped set the committee's focus on brand safety, ad verification and anti-fraud programmes.

Jules Kendrick, JICWEBS' recently appointed CEO, comments: 'Guy is extremely well respected in the digital advertising industry and has played an active part in the JICWEBS journey to this point. I'm very much looking forward to working with him to help shape the future of our dynamic and fascinating industry'.
