SurveyMonkey Opens Data Centre in Europe

Research software company SurveyMonkey has launched a cloud-based European data centre for new enterprise customers, allowing it to host data for customers located or doing business in the region.

Zander LurieThe firm says its own research on General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) conducted earlier this month indicates that UK residents have become much more aware of the regulations and what they mean for them. Only 56% say they are confident that they know where their data is stored, but 74% say it's important that this is within the European Union.

The European data centre launch follows the company's acquisition of Amsterdam-based Voice of the Customer (VoC) tech provider Usabilla, and the hiring of international sales leaders based out of SurveyMonkey's Dublin headquarters.

CEO Zander Lurie (pictured) comments: 'More than a third of SurveyMonkey's revenue comes from customers outside of the United States, with a significant portion of that coming from Europe. Our cloud investments enable us to grow that business by delivering the data control, security and best-in-class user experience that global enterprises demand'.
