Tesco Top Communicator

Both MPs and NGOs have rated Tesco as the most effective communicator from the top 50 FTSE companies in BPRI's latest report, 'Should Business Care?'. Financial services, retail, FMCG and telecommunications companies all rate highly in the lists.

Five companies appear in both MPs' and NGOs' lists: Tesco, BT, Vodafone, BskyB and BP. Interestingly, one of the seven companies to appear in the bottom 10 for both groups was WPP, BPRI's parent company.

According to report author Debbie Senior, BPRI's Head of Marketing, 'NGOs have selected companies on the basis of their strong brands, particularly those which are consumer facing. MPs, as well as highlighting the latter, also value the regularity of information that these companies deliver'.

A number of companies in the more 'controversial' industries of mining, tobacco and pharmaceuticals / biosciences were considered the worst communicators because NGOs and MPs just do not hear from them.
