TNS Links Emerging Markets

Global agency TNS has announced a realignment of its regional operations, which it says recognises the growth potential of emerging markets. The group's business across Middle East and Africa and Latin America will be linked with the high growth markets of Asia Pacific.

The new 'rest of the world' region will use the acronym ALM for Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East and Africa. It includes three economies in China, India and Brazil which TNS says 'most economists are backing as the high growth economies in the early 21st century; with Russia being the fourth.'

New CEO David Lowden has given control of the new super-region to the current Asia Pacific regional management board led by James Hall, and has announced the following management responsibilities:
  • Stuart Campbell-Morris - Regional Director for business in Middle East, Africa and India.
  • Stephen Jenke - Regional Director for Operations, Southern Asia and Oceania
  • Wander Meijer becomes an ALM Board Director with responsibility for the International Research Centre in Hong Kong along with operations in Hong Kong, Singapore and The Philippines.
  • David Richardson - Regional Director North Asia which includes Greater China, Japan and Korea.
  • Jim Sailor - Shanghai-based Managing Director Greater China.
  • Manny Inocencio - Managing Director Taiwan.
  • Chris Riquier - Managing Director Oceania, including Australia, New Zealand and links into the Pacific Islands.
  • Ashok Sethi - Chief Methodologist for TNS ALM with responsibility for new product development expertise in Asia Pacific.
Hall says the changes represent 'a very positive step forward... I am confident that these new appointments will add impetus to our drive to achieve the ambitious strategic goals we have set for 2006 across this wider region that is now recognised for its growth opportunity.'
