BSRIA Buys Building Controls MR Specialist

In the UK, The Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA) has acquired building controls market research firm Proplan from its parent, i&i limited. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

BSRIA says that the purchase will increase the geographical scope of its research and consolidate product knowledge between the two companies.

Andrew Eastwell, BSRIA's CEO commented: 'This business complements our own activities well, and supports our ambitions to grow our market share in worldwide construction market research. Proplan has an excellent image in the very important sector of controls.'

Proplan's Senior Researcher Jeremy Towler joins BSRIA research staff Gambi Chiang and Andrew Giles to work on multi-client reports and consultancy assignments, while Proplan's Co-Founder and Director Allan McHale will be retiring.

McHale welcomed the merger, saying: 'I am delighted that Proplan has found such a good home and now with BSRIA's greater resources in place the business will rapidly expand to meet our clients' needs. The combined skills of the two companies will enhance the ability to provide comprehensive and integrated services on a worldwide front.'

Founded in 1956, BSRIA offers global market intelligence across a range of building services products. Web sites are www.bsria.co.uk and www.proplan.co.uk.

BSRIA recently opened an office in Beijing to increase its international research portfolio and act as a 'window' to other BSRIA services (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7824.htm ).
