McCallum Layton Forms Sensory Testing Unit

UK research and marketing insight consultancy McCallum Layton has expanded its services to include sensory testing, through a bespoke Sensory Testing Unit and panel in Leeds.

Vivien Wilton-MiddlemassThe new service - which offers testing across the food and drink, FMCG and cosmetic industries - is headed by sensory specialist Vivien Wilton-Middlemass, who has more than 20 years' experience in the field.

Prior to joining the firm last Autumn, Wilton-Middlemass ran her own sensory and market research company MSTS, which she founded in 1982 and sold to Marketing Sciences in 1998. The company operated internationally, and was the first of its kind to commercially offer an integrated sensory and consumer research service.

Wilton-Middlemass was awarded Business Woman of the Year and made a Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts for her innovation and contribution to the food and drink industry in 1987 and 1989 respectively.

Founding Partner Duncan McCallum says the new unit is part of a strategy to provide clients with 'an even greater range of services.'

In March, the firm expanded its Computer Aided Telephone Interviewing (CATI) Unit, relocating it to new premises in Headingley, Yorkshire.
