Experian Names Technology Head

In the UK, global information services giant Experian has promoted Mel Mason to the new post of Global Chief Information Officer (CIO), responsible for the development and implementation of a common technology and deployment strategy.

Mel MasonMason joined the firm in 2003 as MD of Technology Services for Experian UK & Ireland. Prior to this, he worked for twelve years as IT Director at the Home Shopping division of GUS (from which Experian demerged in October 2006). After GUS, he spent 17 years at Tesco where he progressed to the position of Deputy to the IT Director.

In his new role, Mason will report to Mike DeVico, Group President, Experian Americas, where he will also be responsible for enhancing service delivery quality, integrating data centres and networks, and improving overall operating efficiencies across Experian businesses globally.

Mason comments on his new position: 'It is absolutely vital that Experian's information and analytics solutions are underpinned with the best technology infrastructure supported by the best technologists. We have strong teams of IT professionals in our business who enhance our ability to introduce innovative products for our clients around the world.'

On Friday, Experian Automotive launched a new client loyalty offering to help manufacturers and their agencies build a customised picture of what drives loyalty among their own specific customers.
