Ruth BoltonIn the US, the Marketing Science Institute (MSI) has appointed Ruth Bolton as Executive Director, overseeing the quality and content of MSI-sponsored research.

MSI is a learning non-profit institution, dedicated to bridging the gap between marketing science theory and business practice. The organization brings together executives from approximately 70 sponsoring corporations with leading researchers from more than 100 universities worldwide.

Bolton specializes in studying how organizations can improve business performance over time by creating, maintaining and enhancing relationships with customers. Most recently, she was Professor of Marketing at the W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University, where her research focused on high technology services sold to B2B customers.

Prior to this, she held academic positions at Vanderbilt University, the University of Oklahoma, Harvard University, University of Maryland, University of Alberta, Carnegie-Mellon University, and the University of British Columbia. She also spent eight years with Verizon, working on services marketing, customer satisfaction, and loyalty projects in its telecoms and information services strategic business units.
