Sam GoslingIn the US, psychographic measurement and targeting firm Mindset Media has appointed Sam Gosling as Scientific Advisor, working alongside its research department to support the improvement of personality typing and prediction.

Mindset Media helps marketers to see how their target consumers measure up against 21 elements of personality identified as driving buyer behaviour and brand choice. This enables web publishers to deliver personalized content to their audiences.

In his new role, Gosling will collaborate with the firm to publish its findings on the importance of personality in consumer behaviour and brand choice.

Gosling is currently a Professor of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin. He did his doctoral work at the University of California at Berkeley, where he developed his research interests in Internet-based methods of data collection, the personality of non-human animals, and manifestations of personality in everyday contexts.

He is the recipient of the American Psychological Association's Distinguished Scientific Award for Early Career Contribution, and his book, Snoop: What Your Stuff Says About You, was released in paperback earlier this year.

‘Sam’s expertise in everyday manifestations of personality aligns perfectly with what we do,’ stated John Durant, Director of Research. ‘Furthermore, we have collected a wealth of data that proves the importance of personality, and we look forward to working with Sam to publish our findings.’

The New York-headquartered agency, which has field offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Kansas City, is online at www.mindset-media.com .
