Steve PayneIn the UK, publishing group Future has hired former Carat Associate Director Steve Payne for its new role of Ad Planning Director, in charge of ad planning, marketing and market research.

Payne joins with more than ten years’ experience in the media industry. He previously had senior communications planning responsibilities at Aegis-owned communications specialist Carat, before which, he was Head of Integrated Solutions at Associated Newspapers, Strategic Planning Director at Emap, and an Account Director at Initiative Media.

In his new role, he will manage a 14-strong team of in-house marketers and market researchers. He will also oversee ad planning and marketing strategies across the firm’s brands, and work closely with its senior commercial team.

‘The addition of an experienced director was the next step in the development of our senior commercial team,’ stated COO Simon Wear. ‘With his vast contacts book, industry knowledge and strategic planning pedigree, Steve is ideally placed to help agencies and clients understand how Future can help them to get maximum commercial benefit from our brands.’
