In the US, Dr Sandra Bauman, President of Bauman Research & Consulting in New Jersey, has been named the 2010-2011 President-Elect of the New York Chapter of the American Association for Public Opinion Research (NYAAPOR). Members of the New York chapter are part of the national organization, which was founded in 1947 and has seven regional chapters nationwide. The association offers networking, educational workshops and presentations, including some by notable political and media pollsters. Bauman has been an active AAPOR member since 1990, attending 18 of the last 20 AAPOR conferences. This past year, she served on the AAPOR Code Committee, and she has also served on AAPOR’s Student Paper Competition and the Innovator’s Award committees. In addition, she has run the post-conference survey for two years, and has been a contributing writer to the AAPOR newsletter. In over 20 years, her research career has included academic research, election research, and commercial market research. She founded full-service market research firm Bauman Research & Consulting in 2002, prior to which she held senior roles at Wirthlin Worldwide and at Roper Starch. ‘It’s gratifying to be among colleagues with whom I can discuss the latest research methodology, debate issues related to research topics, and share the most up-to-date tools available that yield the most pertinent data,’ said Bauman. ‘By becoming more involved in NYAAPOR, I hope to widen my network of research and opinion professionals even more.’ Web sites: www.nyaapor.org and www.aapor.org .
