EXPO
July 12 2010

Pete BlackshawEXPO, an online community on which consumers use video to share their opinions about the products they buy, has expanded its its Board of Directors from four to six members, appointing Nielsen Online’s Pete Blackshaw, MDC partners’ Robert ‘Kam’ Kamerschen, and former Time Warner exec Thayer Bigelow.

EXPO holds over 300,000 video product reviews covering everything from shampoo to cell phones to hybrid cars; between them viewed over 30 million times to date.

Blackshaw is frequently cited in publications such as the Wall Street Journal and BusinessWeek, and helped pioneer digital media at Procter & Gamble, before founding PlanetFeedback, Inc., now part of Nielsen Online.

EXPO President Bill Hildebolt comments: ‘Pete is a pioneer in the areas of user generated content, customer listening and all of the other concepts we now call social media. People think these are new concepts, but Pete has been practicing them since 1997 and to have that credibility on our Board shows the impact we're having with global brands.’

Kamerschen has served as a board member at IMS Health, Radio Shack and on numerous private company boards, and held CEO roles at ADVO, Inc., RKO/Six Flags Entertainment and MaxFactor. Bigelow is a long time investor in EXPO who spent more than 30 years working for Time, Inc. and Time Warner in various senior roles. EXPO CEO Daphne Kwon says of ‘Kam’: ‘His experience across the corporate life cycle and his connections to companies large and small have already been invaluable as we continue to accelerate our growth.’ She describes Thayer as ‘personifying the concept of a value-added investor’, adding: ‘His support of EXPO since inception has been key to our success today.’
