Dr P. Read MontagueNeuromarketing research specialist EmSense has appointed Dr P. Read Montague to its Science Advisory Board, which works with its research and development team to validate the scientific and market research aspects of its bio-sensory brain measurement technology.

San Francisco-based EmSense applies EEG and other bio-sensory measurements to understand consumers’ emotional and cognitive engagement with marketing stimuli such as advertising, packaging, online marketing, and both live and virtual shopping experiences.

Dr Montague is currently Professor in the Department of Physics at Virginia Tech; Director of the Computational Psychiatry Unit and Human Neuroimaging Lab at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute; and Professor in the Wellcome Trust Centre for Neuroimaging at University College London.

His work at the Human Neuroimaging Lab aims to uncover the biological underpinnings of decision-making in humans. This research uses computational neuroscience techniques to explain the brain processes involved in decision-making, and the influence of various environmental factors.

‘Dr Montague’s research on factors affecting decision making has made him an expert in the fields of neuroeconomics and neuromarketing,’ states EmSense CEO Keith Winter. ‘We are honored that he has chosen to be part of our Science Advisory Board, and we look forward to benefiting from his expertise and thought leadership in neuromarketing.’
