March 14 2011

Customer relationship marketing (CRM) agency Merkle has added two Vice Presidents of Client Management, James Hutchison and Ruey-Er Chang, based in London and Shanghai respectively; and promoted Shanghai-based Raymond Wu to VP and General Manager of its China analytics and technology businesses.

Privately held, the firm has more than 1,400 employees and is headquartered near Baltimore, MD, with offices in nine other US cities and in Shanghai.

Chang will focus on developing Merkle’s presence and ongoing partnership with Dell in the Asia Pacific Region, including Japan. She was previously Chief Analytics Officer of a large multi-national insurance agency, and before this held a number of senior positions at Citigroup, including Head of Database Marketing/CRM and Analytics for the Asian Pacific region based in Singapore. She also worked at Epsilon and at AT&T.

James Hutchison brings twenty years of marketing experience including more than 14 years at IBM in Western Europe: most recently as Marketing Automation lead for IBM Worldwide Marketing Transformation, and previously as Head of Database Marketing and leader of Direct Marketing in the EMEA region. He will work to develop a regional presence for Merkle and implement regional marketing efforts for Dell.

Wu has led the development and management of Merkle’s first overseas location in Shanghai, growing it to more than forty employees, with a leap to 100 anticipated in the remainder of 2011. His experience of marketing mix optimisation and database marketing spans eleven years. Before joining Merkle in December 2004, he worked for ad and direct marketing agency WPP/Wunderman New York.

Merkle CEO David Williams comments: ‘As we leverage the company’s reputation for providing industry leading CRM solutions, Merkle continues to recruit the most talented individuals in the marketing field to grow our business internationally’.
