Alan LongOnline audience measurement firm Hitwise has appointed Alan Long as Research Director for Asia Pacific. He will be based in Melbourne, Australia from where he will cover online trends in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong.

Long’s background includes more than 25 years as an advertising digital media strategist. Most recently he worked at online media agency MediaSmart, where he held the position of State Director for Victoria, South Australia and Western Australia.  Prior to this, he served as Director at Frontier Media Active, and he also managed the Olympics.com program internationally from late 1998 to 2000 when he was at BMCMedia.com.

In his new role, Long will head a team of analysts delving into online insights across 160+ industries covering more than 1 million web sites daily from the Hitwise sample. He will also post insights to the Hitwise Intelligence-Analyst Weblogs.

‘Alan's marketing and advertising expertise together with his knowledge of the online industry is a great asset for our business,’ commented Bill Tancer, General Manager of Global Research.

In January, the firm appointed former Nielsen Online Senior Retail Analyst Heather Dougherty as Director of Research.
