7 Billion People
February 25 2009

US web personalization software firm 7 Billion People has appointed online retail veteran Richard Marcus to its Board of directors.

Marcus worked with fashion retailer Neiman Marcus for 27 years, serving as CEO from 1979 to 1988. In 1994, he co-founded an online shopping site and helped develop e-commerce firm OnRamp Technologies. He has also served on the Boards of Michael’s Stores, Lands’ End and Zale Corporation, and he is currently a Senior Advisor to investment banking firm Peter J. Solomon and a Board member of My Wines Direct.

‘Richard’s background in both traditional and e-commerce retailing brings an incredible wealth of knowledge and wisdom to our company,’ said CEO Mark Nagaitis. ‘His guidance will be invaluable as we extend our reach in the e-commerce market.’

Using principles from behavioral psychology and linguistic science, 7 Billion People develops software that promises to personalize the online experience for every visitor. The firm claims its MarketMaestro tool can determine not just who a user is in terms of analytics and demographics, but why they are on a web site at any given moment and what they want to accomplish.

The firm is located in Austin, Texas, and is on the web at: www.7bpeople.com .
