Infogroup Sells UK Operation

Infogroup|UK - which was established in 2007 with the aim of compiling a database of more than 2.5 million businesses and over 3 million business contacts in the UK - has been acquired by B2B data provider Market Location. Terms were not disclosed.

Manchester-based Infogroup|UK, which was previously known as infoUK, was initially managed by data industry veteran Richard Lloyd, who left in July as a result of what US-based parent company Infogroup described as a 'realignment' following its own acquisition by CCMP Capital Advisors.

The UK division employed up to 25 staff at one point, but had just five members of staff at the time of the acquisition. General Manager Andrew Taylor also left earlier this month to join data, analytics and insight consultancy Definitive.iQ.

Leamington Spa-based Market Location, which employs 115 staff, has confirmed that it plans to run Infogroup|UK with its current team in place and under its existing name.

Director Patrick Bradshaw explained: 'We made the decision to take on members of the original Infogroup|UK team because we are keen to explore growth opportunities across the north west, and believe they can bring added value to the business.'

He added that his firm's first priority is to get Infogroup|UK back into profit, which he believes can be achieved within two months.
