IMS Research Opens Tokyo Office

Electronics market specialist IMS Research has opened an office in Tokyo, Japan, which President Ian Weightman describes as a 'key component' in the firm's growth strategy in Asia Pacific. The new office is headed by former comScore manager Masanori Wakabayashi.

Masanori WakabayashiIMS offers syndicated market studies, bespoke research and consultancy services to the global electronics industry from offices in Europe, the US, China, Taiwan and South Korea. It recently established a new US practice, Touch Market Research & Consulting.

Wakabayashi (pictured), who before comScore worked at Digital Vision Inc, will be involved in growing the IMS Research Japanese team, to add to the company's existing headcount of 115 industry analysts worldwide.

'A presence in Japan is essential to us as we continue to build-out coverage of key growth markets such as LEDs, PV, the smart grid and medical electronics, as well as strengthening our core offering in the industrial automation, consumer electronics and semiconductor sectors,' says Weightman. 'Having a team of analysts in Japan will deepen our understanding of the complex dynamics driving these markets, and will provide clients with the most insightful and expert research available.'
