Technomic Launches Menu Trends Insight Tools

In the US, foodservice research and trend insights firm Technomic has begun using AI, machine learning and language processing to create predictive tools identifying menu and other industry trends.

Lizzy FreierAcquired by B2B media and information company Winsight in 2015, Technomic provides primary and secondary food and foodservice industry insights, along with strategic advice to food manufacturers and distributors, restaurants, retailers and others. Its services range from major research studies and management consulting solutions to online databases and simple fact-finding assignments.

The company now uses modeling to determine future menu trends, and its predictive model also uses historical menu trends, social media listening tools and consumer sentiment to forecast how ingredients, flavors or dishes will trend in the coming years.
