Escalent Launches Electric Vehicle Buyer Study

Escalent, formerly Market Strategies International-Morpace, has launched a US study called EVForward, to help automotive manufacturers predict the future purchasing behavior of buyers of electric vehicles.

Mike DovoranyThe agency, which combines proprietary data capture methods and technologies with industry expertise and a visualization toolset, was formed when research firms Morpace and Market Strategies International were acquired and merged in 2018 by private equity firm STG (Symphony Technology Group), and then later rebranded. Its new EVForward study - conducted with a national sample of 10,293 new vehicle buyers aged 18-80 - offers more than 600 variables encompassing proprietary survey information from Acxiom profiling data.

According to Escalent, unlike other studies, which rely on the behavior of early adopters and self-identified 'intenders', EVForward focuses on the broader marketplace to analyze specific aspects of electric vehicle (EV) mass adoption - including time, cost, required features and infrastructure support. Specifically, the study has been developed to understand EV buyer motivation, which messages will improve EV buyer intention, how EV opinion has changed over time, and how desired EV attributes vary by vehicle segment or buyer type.

Mike Dovorany (pictured), Automotive & Mobility VP, comments: 'We took a hard look at the types of consumer information companies have been using to power their EV strategies. We found insights regarding future buyers - specifically, those who aren't early adopters - were virtually non-existent. EVForward closes that gap and helps automakers and utilities position themselves for success as EV adoption grows over the next decade'.
