Measure Protocol Hires McLaren to Drive Sales

London firm Measure Protocol, a person-based data marketplace using blockchain technology, has hired long-time industry exec John McLaren for a newly created role, Vice President of Sales.

John McLarenMeasure Protocol was launched two years ago by four former YuMe and Crowd Science execs, and aims to ensure individuals are paid fairly and data usage is secure and transparent. In May, the firm launched a solution to help data buyers and market researchers gain a more 'holistic view' of their consumer audiences through passive mobile device data collection; then last month it raised £2m in a funding round led by digital data collection specialist Dynata and venture firm Blockchain Valley Ventures, with participation from medical fieldwork business Medicys.

McLaren (pictured) joins with nearly 30 years' experience leading market research industry sales teams. Most recently, he served in VP roles at SimilarWeb and Verto Analytics, prior to which he spent more than a decade as a VP at Comscore. He began his career at Giga Information Group/Forrester Research, ending a nine year stint there as Senior Director of Sales.

In his new position, McLaren is charged with driving global sales and strategic partnerships, and helping to continue growth. CEO Owen Hanks comments: 'John brings a wealth of commercial experience to our team and his expertise will help drive us forward to meet our growth and partnership goals. He will be instrumental in sharing Measure's vision for creating a transparent, ethical marketplace that fosters deeper understanding of consumer opinions and attitudes'.
