IRI Expands Omnichannel Measurement, Buys CoinOut App

In the US, consumer data giant IRI has expanded its omnichannel measurement capabilities with the launch of two solutions: IRI OmniMarket and IRI OmniConsumer. The firm has also acquired the CoinOut app, whose 1.5 million members submit in-store and online receipts in exchange for cash.

Jeremy AllenOmniMarket provides measurement of in-store and online sales, by tracking dollar and unit sales by brand across all categories, for multi-outlet, dollar, club, specialty and online retailers. According to the firm, more than 75% of the $1 trillion in measured sales comes from retailer-direct point-of-sale (POS) and e-POS data, which it says represents the 'largest and most precise data truth set' in the industry.

OmniConsumer integrates three panel datasets into a single platform, in order to longitudinally track consumer purchase behavior across all brick-and-mortar and eCommerce channels. These datasets include IRI's 100,000-household scan panel, 70-million-household loyalty card panel and a 1.5-million-member receipt panel obtained through IRI's recent acquisition of the CoinOut app.

The first solution is currently available, and the second will be available by the end of 2021. Jeremy Allen (pictured), President of Market and Shopper Intelligence, comments: 'The combination of these three panel datasets, calibrated to POS data, into OmniConsumer's one integrated system creates an omnichannel solution that is truly unmatched in its scale and granularity. IRI's breadth and depth of data, technology and analytics uniquely position us to deliver the most accurate and actionable insights for our clients focused on today's omnichannel consumers.'
