QuenchTec Acquired by Research Tech 'Newbie' WALR

In the UK, MR technology company QuenchTec has been acquired by recently launched research technology (ResTech) provider WALR. Terms of the cash deal have not been disclosed.

Lewis Reeves and Patrick FraserQuenchTec was formed in 2016 from the merger of research software firms MARSC and MI Pro. The firm's market research and consumer insights survey platform is used by brands and research professionals to manage the entire research lifecycle - from survey design and panel management to data collection, analysis and reporting.

It now joins WALR, which was launched last October by former VIGA (now Savanta) exec Lewis Reeves and Patrick Fraser, who previously worked at Ipsos and Critical Research. The combined business, which will offer technology to enable all aspects of the data collection process, will have an initial headcount of around 30 staff in six markets with bases in the UK, USA and Europe. All QuenchTec staff will transfer with the deal, and former QuenchTec Chairman Dietmar Walter will continue to advise the business.

The expanded and fully integrated offering will be officially launched in early 2022. Reeves comments: 'Bringing together WALR and QuenchTec provides us with a great opportunity to continue innovating and providing clients with the very best solutions to enable them to focus on what makes them so successful. I'm thrilled to welcome the full QuenchTec team, excited about what we can build together and the role we can play in guiding our clients' success in the ever-developing ResTech arena.'
