GlobalData Buys Automotive and Agri Insight Firms

London-based business intelligence provider GlobalData Plc has acquired automotive research and data firm LMCA Holdings Ltd and agribusiness specialist LMCI Holdings Ltd, for an undisclosed sum.

AIM-listed GlobalData was previously known as Progressive Digital Media, and is led by Datamonitor founder Mike Danson (pictured). As well as various assets from Datamonitor itself, the firm acquired energy, construction and financial services analyst ResearchViews in 2018, and has an existing automotive offer, to which it says LMCA will add scale and capabilities. LMCI will bring 'new and unique gold standard Agribusiness data' to the group, 'to broaden and complement its existing sector coverage'.

LMC said its products and solutions would be integrated into the GlobalData platform over the next twelve months, but its team will remain in place.

The acquisitions will be funded through existing facilities. CEO Danson comments: 'The Automotive and Agribusiness acquisitions represent strategic bolt-ons and the high quality gold standard content adds depth and further breadth to our intelligence offering.
